''Steep price tag'' for Sustainable clothing.

I would love to start by saying we live in world full of greedy people who do not care about the lands that feed ,cloth and shelter them, hence before we start showing ultimate respect to mother earth for not just farming the raw materials we need to make clothing and food.....Am afraid we shall then never grasp what sustainability is in an form!

Sustainable fashion brands still face a remarkable challenge when it comes to offering budget friendly items. Few are able to merge their ethical principles with the economic reality out there in the wild jungle of fashion companies. Much as everyone has a different idea of what affordable means to them, there is no denying that several sustainable fashion brands out there are making ethical clothing with a steep price tag.

When it comes to buying clothing, we need to think both about our mindset around how many clothes we need, and how much we are capable of spending. Regardless of whether you are purchasing ethical fashion or are still shopping fast fashion, if you are buying clothing in excess then you are not shopping in a sustainable nor an affordable manner and still spending a ‘steep price ’only for more pieces that will most likely wear out after three washes.

When we choose to shop a more sustainable wardrobe we are not only saving financially but ethically as well. The second we choose to shop with thought and intention, we ultimately will spend less, and save more by producing less waste.

The society we live in still has a long way to go in terms of re-processing that clothes shouldn’t cost $<15 for a dress, top or even trousers. If you are to consider the materials used from thread, zippers, buttons, value of machine, time taken to produce the item and salaries for workers then there is no way to offer items at such price.

Leave alone the fact that we still don’t know how to value clothing, how to take care of it to make sure it last its desired life span.

.

While the transition away from impulse and excessive clothing shopping may be difficult at first, the less you choose to shop fast fashion, the more money you will save. This will over time allow you to be able to invest in ethical fashion made with sustainable materials that will enable you to build a socially responsible wardrobe filled with items you can wear for many years to come.
